The Mafia series has long been heralded for its strong narrative emphasis, splicing of real-world history into fictionalised cities, and the joy of taking classic vehicles for a spin.
For some players, part of the enjoyment of driving in Mafia II was the emphasis on realism. Partly, this realism came from features such as physics-based handling, a fuel-management system, and a police force that reacted believably to traffic violations. In Mafia III , while the physics-based handling is most definitely there, the fuel-management system has been removed completely, and the police are a lot more lenient when it comes to traffic violations.
Even when I did get attached to a car in Mafia II, circumstance often dictated that I abandon my damaged ride, or seek another vehicle when being pursued by cops or mobsters. Hoping there's more to do in this inviting space.
