Asalaam u alykum, My dad told us dad imam husain had 64 wives! I just cant believe this as this is something forbidden and how can Imam husain do such a thing? We told dad that he must be mistaken but he said no he will prove with some books. I Wanted to know that is this true? Jazakallahu khairun. It is not possible that Hadhrat Husayn Radhiallaahu Anhu had 64 wives at once in his marriage.
Slave-girl has a special definition in religious discussions. Based on this definition, to possess a slave-girl is limited to the time when we have a present Prophet or Imam not in our time when our Imam is in occultation. According to several conditions mentioned in religious books, female captives of certain wars are called slave-girls who have special rulings. When you possess such slave-girl which does not happen in our time you have the right to have relation with her.
Now, if this relation leads to her giving birth to a child then she would be called Umm Walad who enjoys several rights e. Therefore, in a sense, you are right in asserting that "You cant marry your slave girls" since there is no formal marriage.
